Well its Wednesday morning 7.30am, got to get up. Am really tired. Imran woke me at 7.00 telling me to get ready because I have to meet her at the bus station at half past 8 so I better get up. I started to put on some make-up it never goes right for me when I am in a rush and can't find anything to wear that isn't dirty or that needs ironing. Plus just to top it all off my hair straighteners are at my boyfriends' house and I need to hurry up. I plan to get out of the house for about 7.45 but I don't think I will as times running out so I grabbed my coat and ran out of the house.
I got a fast walk on up the street to the bus stop. There was a lad sat down on the bench in the bus stop so I couldn't sit down and I was out of breath because I was walking so fast. So I just smiled thinking to myself in my head I wish he wasn’t there. 10 minutes later a bus came so I got on and bought a day ticket that cost £3.40. I went and sat down next to a woman. Imran was calling me asking where I was and how long I would be. So I told her that I was on the bus 10 minutes away but it was more like 20 minutes away. It kept her quiet for a little while. I decided to have a rout in my bag to clean it up a little. So I chucked all my empty chocolate rappers and old bus tickets out. I forgot that I had two plumbs in my bag that I put in yesterday and forgot to take them out. I felt like eating one of them as I was hungry from missing breakfast because I was in a rush. Do you know when you get that feeling that everybody is staring at you, well I felt like that. So I decided not to eat one while I was on a bus full of people.
I arrived at the bus station, got off and Imran was there waiting for me. Bless her, she asked me if I wanted anything from the bakers in the bus station. I said that I would have a hot chocolate so she bought me one. We both walked over to the bus stand and sat on the seats to wait for the bus.
When the bus came I asked the driver to give us a shout when we were at our stop because we were unsure of where we were going, then all of a sudden a woman spoke up and said she was going there too. We started making conversation with her by asking her what course she was going to do. She replied by saying she was taking her GCSEs again and me and Imran told her that we were doing our Maths and English GCSEs too. Then the driver shouted us and all 3 of us got off the bus, not forgetting to say thank you to the driver of course.
As we were walking towards the building Imran and the lady that we had just met carried on talking about random things. I was just more bothered about getting there on time. We arrived and went our separate ways. Me and Imran asked at reception and asked if we were in the same room, we were! I went into the room and the teacher introduced herself. She was called Jane, lovely lady. Well she got us stuck in and gave us practice tests to do to see what grades we are on and what we need to improve on. Then she marked them and told us what score we had got. 30 was a pass. I got 28 and thought I did well. Next thing I new it was time to go, 11.30am. I said goodbye and that I would be there next Wednesday. Me and Imran went over to the park while it was time to go catch the bus.
From the park we walked over to the bus stop waiting for the bus to come. I had a funny feeling about my ticket so I told Imran that I had got a blue bus this morning and got a day ticket from it. She said that I could get on any bus with it. Then a bus come and I got on first and showed the driver my ticket. He said “sorry love, you can’t get on the bus with that ticket.” I felt so stupid and embarrassed. Imran just laughed and suggested walking instead, so we did.
Imran talked most of the way. I was in my own little world, plodding along. We finally got into Wakefield, I was starving so we stopped off at the fish and chip shop. I got a small fish and chips and Imran got chicken and chips. We sat down to eat them and Imran started again saying that her chicken was disgusting and that it was a funny colour but I thought mine tasted ok.
So after we finished we decided to get some strawberries from Morrisons because they were on offer and were only £1. So we put towards them and bought them. We came out of Morrisons and crossed the road. Imran told me that there was a job centre not that far away so we decided to go.
We walked inside and looked at the computers and printed off some jobs for cleaning and retail. There wasn’t anything much in. After that it was nearly time for my appointment with Sima, my Activity Agreement Keyworker. So I walked Imran so far then I came back to go to the Activity Agreement office, it was 10 to 3 so I went in.
I had an appointment with someone who is called Isabel from the play work – Volunteer 2 Play, she came to see me about doing some volunteer work. I wanted to get some experience of working with children of all ages. Sima introduced me to everyone and then we got stuck in and sat down to discuss what the play work was all about. There was another girl who wanted to do volunteer work in childcare just like me, so she sat with us too. Isabel was very forward and lovely and made it sound really interesting and fun. It was something that I really wanted to do.
After Isabel left, Sima and me continued talking about it. We talked about me getting NVQ levels and that I could get one from doing the volunteer work. She made it sound so easy. I had a whole new perspective in life about what I wanted to do. Sima suggested college to me and she even talked about University. I never, ever thought I would ever get a chance like this. So I am going to continue with my current course and get some NVQs in Childcare, maybe 2 and 3. I made another appointment to see Sima for next week. That was it. I had finished for the day. So I walked out of the Activity Agreement office with a big smile on my face. I wanted to do more in my life.
So I walked to the bus station with lots of new and exciting challenges to do. I couldn’t wait to get home to tell my boyfriend and my family what I wanted to do with my life.
I arrived at the bus station and looked on the stand for my bus and what time it would arrive. When I got the on the bus I phoned my mum to tell her to tell my boyfriend to meet me off the bus. I arrived in my home town and my boyfriend was waiting for me. I went home and told my mum all about my day. She was very happy with me and is willing to support me in whatever I choose.
